Our commitment to the climate for a good future
Salzgitter AG and the KHS Group have made it their aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
KHS as a Group company, will actively and consistently contribute to the achievement of this target with its own measures. This is why, together with Salzgitter AG, we have joined the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our joint climate ambitions are currently being vetted by the SBTi. We are using this time to define and implement a plan of action.

We have a long way to go until we reach our target but we have made a good start and will gradually introduce further measures. We are convinced that we will reach our target of net zero if we continue to consistently pursue our objectives.
About the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi)
The SBTi is a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a non-profit organization founded in London in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact, a worldwide pact between companies and the UN to make globalization more social and ecological, the World Resources Institute (WRI), an environmental think tank founded in 1982 as a non-profit organization and based in Washington D.C., USA, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) helps companies to set a scientifically sound and therefore realistic climate target against the background of the 1.5 degree target from the Paris Climate Agreement.

Lots already achieved
With our multitude of energy-efficient machines and modernization measures, for decades we have been constantly helping to cut the amount of energy and resources consumed by our plant engineering so that you can operate our systems and solutions economically and reliably for many years. To this end, we focus on two key factors during product development: continuous improvement in the overall equipment effectiveness and maximum retention of the value of your filling and packaging lines throughout their entire life cycle. As regards packaging, during consultancy you can now use the results of our carbon calculator for all of our PET and secondary packaging systems according to DIN EN ISO 14067. We are well aware of the fact that our reliable systems and solutions are merely one aspect when it comes to cutting greenhouse gas emissions. This is why we also look to see what we ourselves can do in our corporate environment and throughout the entire value creation chain to exploit further potential for reduction in all areas.
